An organized, efficiently run business is critical to your company's success. RDT Concepts takes a proactive approach in providing your business with practical, cost effective solutions custom designed around your unique requirements. Being well connected with today's leading manufacturers allows us to provide our customers with the most innovative, efficient, functional and visually pleasing products on the market.
The incorporation of well planned storage systems helps create an efficiently run office by improving productivity and workflow. Optimizing the space your office currently has is the most cost effective solution for today's growing businesses. Well designed storage areas save your organization time and money by accommodating growth and eliminating the need for off-site storage or costly moves.
Whether it be our national, regional, local or company, it is always a goal to preserve our history. Archivists, historical societies and key employees often look for ways to improve the storage, protection and ease of access to historical documentation they are responsible for.
Many of our customers have the need to display, research and grow their archives to include all of the historical data that a particular company, event or acquisition may have affected the region or historical landscape.
It has been our experience that a combination of products such as high density storage, specialized shelving, display cabinets and lockable cabinets will make the best use of the architectural constraints of this area. RDT Concepts can provide a detailed specification that will account for the security, air-flow, fire protection, and other environmental concerns, while taking care of the physical layout to help maximize your usage of key floor space.
The common thought process is that shelving is shelving. However, in today's economy, taking advantage of the usable
floor space is a primary goal of the majority of our clients.
When it comes to storing boxes, companies will waste 6" to 8" of space on every shelf when they attempt to store boxes on traditional 36" and 42" wide shelving. By utilizing an in-between size or wide span shelf, customers can maximize the amount of boxes stored on site while taking full advantage of the floor space that is allotted for the traditional box storage applications.
By utilizing our vast product lines, our customers can increase the storage of on-site box storage and reduce operating costs by not having to pay an outside organization thousands of dollars to store and retrieve their company's information. RDT Concepts can help with conceptual layouts and improve the functionality of your company's box storage area.
Case style shelving, sometimes referred to as library shelving, has similar characteristics to traditional 4-post style shelving. The major exception between the two types is the solid uprights that case style shelving possesses. Case style has all of the same accessory items, but it is more of a cabinet and doesn't require closure or end panels to finish off the end of the units.
The uprights allow you to modify the shelf spacing every 1-1/2" vertically to maximize the storage based on the media size and architectural limitations. The shelving can be in standard widths, 24", 30", 36", 42" and 48" wide. They come in standard depths of 10", 12", 15", 20", 24", 30" and 36" deep. A typical unit can be combined with an add-on unit by sharing a common post to allow you to gain inches which can be critical when laying out an office. All shelving is power coated and can be dressed up with laminate, perforated metal end panels or wood trim.
Our mission statement for the past, present and future is ever changing. However, the one constant is that RDT Concepts not only
provides the storage, but also the system. With our full line of file folders, sticky labels and software technology, we can provide
a complete system that starts with storage equipment and ends with a fully functioning document and material management system.
We will design a system that provides maximum efficiency, productivity and security. The full system will not only maximize the architecture that you have, but will increase overall office efficiency and improve on information or material security at the same time.
RDT can provide multiple solutions for various types of equipment that will directly affect your bottom line by being cost effective and efficient.
The RDT advantage has always been for our staff to be a true resource to the client. In this vein, we not only can supply state of the art equipment and technology, we can also provide durable and dependable standbys such as traditional filing cabinets. If the client needs a specific type of file or simple standard cabinet, we can provide all of the same services as the rest of our product line.
The vertical cabinets and lateral cabinets come in standard sizes such as 30", 36" and 42" wide x 15", 18" and 24" deep. They are also available 2 through 5 tiers/drawers high. This allows us to provide any of the products that will best fit your application and not force you to change what you are doing or comfortable with.
All of the cabinets come with the standard accessories and a few add extra benefits such as security, insulation and fire protection.
The principle behind the high density storage system is to take as many stationary shelving units that will fit in an area and eliminate the aisle spacing between the rows of shelving. This is achieved by putting the shelving on carriages that roll left to right on a series of rails that are mounted to the floor. These rails will guide the carriages back and forth to allow for an open aisle. This open aisle will allow an end user to access the media that is being stored.
There are three ways to move a system: manual, electric and mechanically assisted. Each of these options are made for a specific purpose that your RDT Concepts professional can explain to you.
The high density system can accommodate all types of shelving. You can install 4-post, case style, SmartShelf and Widespan shelving. The other advantage is a carriage can be modified to move existing map files, drawer files, pallet rack and other non-standard shelving.
The high density systems come with many different levels of safeties, passive and active, each of which has its own purposes. There are specific design features that will allow you meet any aesthetic goals as well as specifically engineered features that will allow you to overcome obstacles such as floor loading, building code issues, and even architectural constraints. The high density systems can run as small as 3' long through the largest carriages at 54' long.
The flexibility of various size cabinets, drawers, doors, overhead storage, as well as the ability to provide units constructed of laminate, steel and stainless steel allows RDT Concepts to design your lab the way you require it to be.
Lateral storage systems, also know as "bi-files", "tri-files" and "side by sides", can offer a medium duty storage capacity that will use less of a footprint from front to back. Lateral storage systems also use a carriage to move, however, unlike the high density systems that move left to right or the linear storage that moves in and out, the lateral systems move side to side.
These units are great for smaller areas, alcoves or long and narrow hallways. This type of storage can help maximize the use of floor space that might otherwise not be used with traditional methods of storage. The lateral systems have a built-in track and floor component that allows the carriages to move left to right. The back row is stationary and the front row or front two rows will move, allowing you access to the back row by moving the front rows to the left or right.
Just like in the high density and linear storage systems, the lateral system carriage will accept 4-post, case style, cantilever and certain sizes of wide span shelving. The only mode of operation is manual, but there are several ways to dress up the units to make them aesthetically pleasing.
A linear storage system uses a carriage that operates in a straight line movement to pull in and out. This motion allows
the necessary aisleway to be in front of the system rather than contained within the system, thus maximizing the use of floor
This type of unit has a carriage with leveling feet that can adapt to any 4-post, case style, and SmartShelf shelving that is needed for the storage application. This system comes in a manual, mechanically assisted and electric version to adapt to the needs of the client. With this unique design, the carriage works on a suspension system which doesn't require wheels.
The linear system allows for smooth action on every pull as a direct result of the suspension system. The units can be made aesthetically pleasing by utilizing various styles of end panels. In a typical office environment, using 36" deep units along a 14' long wall, the linear storage system will provide approximately 3,000 lineal filing inches vs. a traditional high density system which provides 2,800.
The cost of floor space is at a premium and organizations are constantly looking for ways to maximize the usable
space. The ever changing demands on a company can force them to expand, downsize, convert existing space into new
areas and still maintain the goal of maximizing the usable space.
Modular casework and millwork alternatives are the answer they have been looking for and offers all of the same products and features that traditional millwork can provide. However, the benefits of modular casework and millwork far exceed that of its traditional counterpart.
Flexibility, durability and modularity are the three main principals behind this concept. Base cabinets can be interchanged with drawer cabinets, open shelves and vertical sorting cabinets without ever discarding the original product. Wall cabinets can be swapped out and even changed up on the fly which allows a customer to maximize the efficiency of the area they are working with.
Modular cabinetry comes in laminate, plywood, powder coated steel and stainless steel. The countertops come in high pressure laminate, chemical resistant, solid surface and stainless steel. All of the accessories of traditional millwork are incorporated in modular casework and the paper management advantages go beyond the possibilities of the traditional counterpart.
The product is manufactured in a controlled setting, rather than being "field built". Using state of the art CAD operated machines for precise cuts and drilling along with the controlled use of raw materials, keeps modular casework cost effective and "Green Guard" certified, which is something the traditional counterpart can't offer. Another feature the counterpart can't offer is the depreciation rate of 7 vs. 31 years.
The landscape of security and confidentiality has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. More and more
companies needing to have records behind locked doors has raised questions for our clients on how to be
compliant without having to purchase all new equipment.
RDT can provide multiple solutions for various types of shelving from hinged doors, flipper doors and tambour doors that will protect the contents of the shelving and add the layer of security that is necessary.
In addition to doors, we can also provide organization and storage for tools, small parts, supplies and many other miscellaneous objects by adding roll-out drawers to your existing shelving and cabinets.
Probably the most popular of all the medium duty storage systems are the rotary filing units. A rotary unit is
commonly referred to as the "Lazy Susan cabinet" for the office. There is a square base that has a circular
channel with ball bearings installed which allows the shelving to spin along the base. The advantage of this
unit is that is can provide storage on both sides even if it is up against a wall.
The unit comes with all the accessories such as roll-out reference shelves, security drawers, CD/multi media drawers, green bar paper management and reversible shelves.
These units come in powder coated steel but can also be wrapped in wood trim, fabric panels and even dry erase material to meet functional and aesthetic concerns.
One 7 level rotary unit can hold 2-1/2 4-drawer lateral file cabinets that are 34" wide (inside dimensions). This will allow you to gain almost 40% of your floor space back when you use the rotary units vs. the traditional lateral filing cabinet. The cost of filing inch per square foot is almost half of the traditional lateral filing cabinet. Again, this allows you to maximize the usable square footage in the overall floor plan. The units can be moved around, used as a room divider and even ganged together to maximize the efficiency of a particular area.
Most people think that shelving is shelving and in the general sense they would be correct. However, there are different styles of shelving and each has a specific purpose that will not only maximize the floor space but will add benefit by increasing the efficiency of retrieval for the media being stored.
Traditional 4-post shelving contains uprights, shelf supports and shelf reinforcements that have keyhole quick lock technology to make installing, changing, and modifying the shelving units a snap. The uprights allow you to modify the shelf spacing every 1-1/2" vertically to help maximize the storage based on the media size and architectural limitations.
The shelving can be in standard widths, 24", 30", 36", 42" and 48" wide. They come in standard depths of 10", 12", 15", and 20", 24", 30" and 36" deep. A typical unit can be combined with an add on unit by sharing a common post to allow you to gain inches which can be critical when laying out an office. All shelving is power coated and can have solid end panels or dressed up with laminate, perforated metal or wood trim.
Companies are often looking for ways to improve productivity in the back rooms and warehouse areas without spending
a lot of money. An easy way to improve productivity can be to revise the shipping and receiving areas within the
company. In the past, there was a table, a stack of boxes and shipping tape in the corner that was considered
a shipping station. Today, you can have a scale table connected to the work table with vertical and horizontal
slots to help organize and store all the different size boxes and supplies necessary to complete the tasks. The
modular station allows you to interchange components such as drawer cabinets, open shelves, and vertical sorting
cabinets without ever discarding the original product. Wall cabinets can be swapped out and even changed up on
the fly and allow a customer to maximize the efficiency of the area that they are working with.
FedEx, UPS and the USPS all have software and supplies that are designed to add quality control and efficiency to your shipping areas. With the help of RDT Concepts, all of these technologies and supplies can be stored, worked with and shipped on a modern shipping and receiving station.
A vertical carousel is a high density storage system that utilizes the vertical space in a room to help reduce the overall footprint of a filing
system by 60%. The unit is able to span multiple floors and adjusts to store many different media types with accessories and specialty drawers
and shelves. The basic principle is that the material being stored is brought to you rather than you trying to retrieve the media. No matter
what size unit you have, a main opening at waist height allows the end user to access media without awkward bending, leaning, or lifting
that might cause injury or workers compensation claims.
Safety is paramount with this type of unit as there are infra-red beams across the opening, a stop/kill switch just outside the main operating window, and a depression lever that will help protect the people and the media. The unit has built in security for your media against dust, light and unauthorized access.
The unit allows you to interface with computer software that will help find and move the system even before you get to the unit. Cataloging and inventory management is an easy task with this type of machine.
